In 1982-1983 academic year, the Department of Educational Sciences was established within Marmara University Atatürk Faculty of Education with the responsibility of providing undergraduate education in the field of Guidance and Psychological Counseling and also conducting pedagogical-information courses in departments that train teachers in various fields within the faculty.

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction, which is under the umbrella of the Department of Educational Sciences, was established in 2005-2006 academic year. As of the 2013-2014 academic year, the master's program carried out under the department has started to operate. The Doctorate Program in Curriculum and Instruction was opened in 2020. There are a total of eight faculty members, five professors and three associate professors, and one lecturer in our department.

In the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, our students are trained as experts who will ensure that education and training activities are carried out more effectively and efficiently through the development of educational programs in formal and non-formal education institutions at all levels through master's and doctoral programs.
